Top 7 Reasons to Add Antarctica To Your Bucket List

Antarctica is a sight like no other. To experience it in person is truly jaw-dropping, as no camera can do it justice. From its incredible landscapes to the remarkable wildlife, it’s one destination you will never forget. Here’s a list of the top 7 reasons to add Antarctica to your bucket list and head there as soon as possible.

The Beauty of Whale Watching

At least ten different species of whales have lived in the Antarctic Ocean. The Minke, Right, Blue, Sei, Finback, Orca, Pilot, Sperm, and Southern bottle-nosed whales are the next most prevalent whales, after which come Humpbacks.

These beautiful creatures are amazing to see. These whales may frequently be seen throughout the season, and their characteristic blowhole sound lets you know when they are around.

When viewing a whale, a sense of heavenly and sensational majesty that must be felt firsthand strikes one.

Jaw-Dropping Scenery

Experiencing the breathtaking beauty in Antarctica that is unlike anything else. When you glance around, you will see majestic mountains and enormous icebergs.

Huge tabular icebergs have a flat top and steep edges. The shallower water over the pile of ice below the surface is a bright aquamarine, and some have a spire in the center that resembles a witch’s hat or a tower, while others are mushroom-shaped and degraded at the waterline. The serenity and silence overwhelm the few who dare to speak louder than a whisper.

A Photographer’s Dream

Among the countless other reasons to visit Antarctica, it’s a photographer’s dream. There is a little of everything to photograph, from grand scenery to amusing creatures.

Taking the ideal picture is not without its difficulties. You will need to consider the weather, lighting, and movement when taking your image. To be at the right place at the right moment, you will also need a bit of luck.

Quark cruises to Antarctica will help ensure that you get your picture at the right moment as they know the seas and when the time is right.

Being in Antarctica will allow you to hone your abilities and take some incredible pictures by overcoming these minor challenges.

You may be fortunate enough to experience the phenomenon of the blood-red arctic snow, and if you do, a picture will be perfect.

Step Back From Technology

You might simply want to escape everything. Stop the daily grind, the constant use of technology, and everything else that takes you away from Mother Nature. Antarctica is the ideal location to get back in touch with nature and put other things in life aside.

Your phone or emails won’t distract you because there is very little or no Wi-Fi available. This enables you to concentrate on living in the present and taking in your surroundings.

We get so caught up in and distracted by social media and technology that we forget the beauty of nature. Do yourself a favor and explore the Arctic to take in the view and leave your stresses behind.

Meet The Penguins

These endearing creatures are associated with Antarctica, and getting to walk among them is a big incentive to go there and cross it off your bucket list.

You will get a close-up view of these incredible animals because it is reported that these penguins are not at all scared of people.

Two of the 17 species of penguins that can only be found on the White Continent are the Emperor and Adelie Penguins. True to their regal names, these tuxedoed gentlemen rule the region with their bizarre mating rituals and comical antics.

There are many non-feathered companions to see because there are up to 250,000 of them in one nesting area.

Embrace The Cold

Antarctica’s extreme cold is energizing. Everything looks magnified since the air is so clean and clear, including colors, forms, and sensations. Snow-covered slopes shine as if they are covered with pearls.

The cold environment of the Antarctic should energize and awaken you if you are adequately prepared in thermal layers and a windproof jacket.

Remember that since Antarctica is a desert, the temperature is dry rather than the bone-chillingly frigid variety. Despite the cold, you should still bring heavy sunscreen and lip balm because the UV radiation is very intense in this area. Dress warmly and embrace it.

Antarctica is also one of the best places to go snowboarding or skiing.

Various Types Of Seals

The final task on our to-do list in Antarctica is to bear witness to the majestic seals.

The fierce leopard seal is the only natural predator for seals in this area, so they have little reason to be afraid. On the ice, Harems, Weddell, Fur, and Crabeater seals can be seen. Pups are born in November, so if you go during that period, see a lot of them.

Their enormous mass and their snout, which resembles a trunk may identify Bull southern elephant seals, even from a distance where they can appear to be a towering black boulder.

Leopard seals are often found in the water, although you could glimpse one of them relaxing on the ice. Penguins will be their primary prey, although larger animals may also hunt other seals.
