Uses For Dryer Sheets

Tired of throwing out your used dryer sheets, or find a good sale on dryer sheets? Here are some ideas for using them!

~ If you want to keep foul odors from ruining the scent of your home, then you need to place dryer sheets in the bottom of your trash can.

~ Buffing chrome has never been so easy as it is with rubbing a dryer sheet over the area. It will shine in no time flat.

~ Vacuum the carpet or sweep the floor, then wipe a dryer sheet along the baseboards to remove stubborn dust and pet hair. Bonus: It repels dust later, too!

~ Removing sap, as well as other sticky substances, is easier with dryer sheets than with normal wipes.

~ The sheets have anti-static properties that will help prevent dust from settling on the TV screen.

~ You can place an unused dryer sheet on the backside of your fan and run it as normal. As the fan blows, it will also deliver a fresh scent to the room.

~ If you have baked-on or stuck-on food in a pot or pan, place an unused non-woven polyester dryer sheet in the pan and fill it with hot water. Allow the pan to soak overnight, and viola – so much easier to clean in the morning!

~ Just like with the TV, dryer sheets will repel dust and make blinds easier to clean over time.

~ Rubbing your pet’s coat with an unscented, plant-based dryer sheet will help calm him during electrical storms by reducing static electricity that can cause his hair to stand on end.

~ Dry air make your hair static-y? Rub a dryer sheet between your brush’s bristles to smooth things over.

~ Dryer sheets are great grabbers. Rub one along the floor or couch to pick up pet hair—or clippings from at-home haircuts.

~ To ward off unpleasant odors, tuck several dryer sheets in with your sleeping bag, tent and hiking boots before you store them.

~ Car fresheners get expensive and don’t last very long for the money spent. Instead of buying a freshener, just put a dryer sheet in your car and let it release a fresh scent.

~ Tennis shoes can get really dirty and really smelly. Add a scented dryer sheet to shoes and boots that have gotten a little too ripe. For kids’ shoes or ladies’ pumps, you can cut each sheet in half and still get great results.

~ Squeaky shoes driving you crazy? Dryer sheets also work to quiet squeaky rubber soles when walking on solid floors. Rub the bottom of the shoes with a dryer sheet and the residue will minimize the friction and get rid of the squeak.

~ Rub a sheet on glass shower doors, and bye bye soap scum!

~ Keep a few dryer sheets in your desk or purse to calm flyaway hair. Just rub the sheet over your hair to smooth it out. Opt for an unscented variety if you don’t want it to compete with your perfume.

~ A wet dryer sheet works well to remove bugs stuck to your windshield and the front grille of your vehicle.

~ When you dust with dryer sheets, it pulls the dust out and makes the area rubbed with it, less likely to attract new dust particles.

~ No need to get frustrated over threads that knot up while you stitch. When you are ready to start hand sewing or doing needlework, run the thread between a folded dryer sheet to keep it tangle-free

~ Flour, pancake mix and other powdery ingredients will stick to dryer sheets, unlike paper towels.

~ If your kids have stuffed animals that aren’t necessarily dirty, but they need a quick freshening, then wipe them down with a dryer sheet. It will make them fresh without washing them to pieces.
