Gasoline
Date: May 24, 2012
Let’s get this party started
As I push you to the ground
I reach back behind me
And ignore all the sounds
The sound of my heart breaking
The sound of your pleas
I lift up this jar
Filled with broken dreams
I slowly twist the top off
Hearing the metal
Against the glass
I take the lid
And throw it down
Perhaps
I’m acting too brash
I look down at you
As a smell twinges the air
You get up
And look me in the eyes
Not even realizing I’m there
The sight of you makes me sick
The scent is making me ill
I push you back to the ground
And smile
At the thought of this thrill
The only thing that separates my foot
From the Earth
Is you
I give it a push
And step on the ground
Much gentler
Than I stepped on you
I look over at my hand
Clinching the jar of fright
See it glisten
It’s time to light up the night
You have no choice
But to listen
Listen to my fears
Listen to my dreams
I slowly start to tilt
The jar filled
With gasoline
Watching the drops
Dance towards your face
Is more than a thrill
I hope you like the taste

Of your jaded victory
I step back
As I hope the taste
Remains on your lips
Reaching into my pocket
I can feel my sanity slip
Slip into the night
Slip into the air
My heart starts to race
Just watching you lay there
Wallow in your pity
Pay for your sins
I pull out this box
As my head starts to spin
I shake the box gently
As I hear a clickty clack
I slip out the middle of it
And begin this party
With a snap
I stand there for a second
Watching the embers
In my hand
I take a step towards you
You haven’t taken your eyes
Off my hand
I look down at you
And dump the rest of the jar
On your waist
I throw it back behind me
And begin to gaze at the flames
The embers start burning my hand
So I throw it in your direction
I step back
As you scream in pain
Deeply enjoying this affliction
I smile as you roll
Around on the ground
Trying to put out your fears
I watch the gasoline
Engulfed by flames
Wondering if you’re still here
I walk over to you
A pile of ashes by now
I place my foot
On the last ember
As my final thought of you
Burns out
