The Encounter

Sometimes at these events there are people who are classic, and you also have the people who come to these events year after year and make the rounds.  Honestly, it gets a bit stale looking at the same people with the same prices and the same pictures event after event, no matter how cool they might be or how sought after they may be.

Every now and then, you have one off the wall person show up who may not be the biggest celebrity, but they are in one or two movies that have made the history books.

In walks Jon Heder.

I personally am one of those people who love Napoleon Dynamite.  I had no idea what I was getting into when I sat down to watch it the first time, however, I was in stitches the whole time the movie was on.  It was just so random and unexpected, it really caught me off guard and had me laughing.  I always quote it (“GO feed Tina!”…. “Whenever I feel like.. GOSH”… Etc), and I was so excited to see when Jon signed on to Dragon Con.

Jon was supposed to come to Dragon Con last year, however something came up and he had to cancel.  This year he signed on, and I got a professional photo opp with him.

Normally when I meet celebrities at the photo opps, it’s so brief that neither one of us utter a word to each other except hello.  Jon actually initiated a conversation before taking a picture with me, which is more than I can say for a lot of celebrities who want to herd you through like cattle.

I wish there were more celebrities who cared about having conversations with fans and getting to know fans rather than meaning a money monger.
