Letter From Heaven
Date: December 19, 2012
For Sandy Hook Elementary
I woke up in the morning
To that alarm clock
Just a screaming
I took my hand
And slammed that snooze down
Dreading another day
Of my life wasting away
Little did I know
That by the end of the day
I’d be writing this from Heaven
I’m a teacher at that school
Nobody pays attention
I’m just wasting
Wasting my life away
Unsung hero
To many of my students
Little did they know
I’d be writing them from Heaven
When that bad man came in
He stared right at me
I didn’t flinch
I just threw my arms

Right around you
I lead you to safety
Laying my life on the line
Little did you know
I’d be writing you from Heaven
He drew that gun out
I had no protection
I stood there
Frozen with fright
Between the sounds
And the screams
I was numb to everything
Protecting you
Was my number one concern
I laid my life down
So that you can grow up
Happy
And somewhat carefree
Go on
And live your life
That’s what I intended
To happen
That’s why I’m writing you
This letter from Heaven
