So, let’s talk about food for a minute – who loves cake?

This year will be the first year our house does something to celebrate college football, since all my boys like football these days. I will be trying a Dr Pepper cake! YES! I have looked at many recipes and I am pretty sure I found the best one!

Dr Pepper Recipe
1 cup butter
1 cup Dr Pepper
2 eggs
1⁄2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 1⁄2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar

ICING
1⁄4 cup butter
3 tablespoons cocoa
chopped nuts
1⁄4 cup Dr Pepper
1 box powdered sugar

Directions

  • Heat 1 cup of butter and Dr Pepper.
  • Add the cocoa, cinnamon, flour, and sugar to the butter mixture.
  • Mix the eggs, buttermilk, soda, and vanilla and add to the rest of the mixture.
  • Pour into prepared 8 or 9-inch pans.
  • Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • For the Dr Pepper icing, heat butter, Dr Pepper, and cocoa, stirring until well blended.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Frost cake.

If you don’t like chocolate cake, you can make it vanilla, just substitute out the cocoa powder with some vanilla flavoring. I have also seen people use hot chocolate instead of cocoa powder. Have you baked a Dr Pepper Cake? Let me know and share your pictures, either a successful cake or not!

The best part is you can shop at Albertsons for all your food and drink needs! Let me know what you are planning to do this year for football season.

Don’t forget you can get a $5 promo code to spend at Fanatics.com. All you have to do is text FANGEAR to 811811. For additional information visit http://gametimefangear.com.
