Love

Date: November 14, 2002

What’s this Love

I’ve been hearing so much of

Some people say

It’s as precious as a white dove

And love is

As sour

As vinegar in the mouth

I want to find out

What these people speak so fondly of

They say it happens

When you meet a guy

And this guy you’ll want to spend time with

For the rest of your life

Something sparks up along the way

And all of the sudden

You’re lost in a silly game

They say you won’t be able

To get this guy

Off your mind

And you’ll wish you could stop

Those hands of time

You’ll debate

Whether or not to tell him

How you feel

You’ll want to find out

If what you feel is for real

You’ll hope and pray

He feels like this

And I’ll forever cherish

Our first kiss

At least that’s what happened to me

Believe me

Love is not at all

What it’s cracked up to be

Love’s not like you see it

Played out in fairytales

What will happen

Is you’ll tell him how you feel

And then the boy will bail

He’ll play with your emotions

Go along with your stupid plan

Then out of the blue

He’ll say “I don’t wanna be your man.”

You’ll try to figure out

What went wrong

Then you’ll go home and listen

To that special song

You’ll dream of being back in his arms

And tears will fall

As you sing along

Then you’ll start to reminisce

Close your eyes

And think of your first kiss

Tears will fall

And you’ll crack a smile

You’ll drift away

At least for a little while

Then you’ll see him the next day

And start to smile

Then I have to start the whole process

Over again

I go back to that day

And yet again

This pain inside will never mend

Every time I hear that song

Tears fall down

And I sing along

I drift in and out of reality

And I lose all my sanity

But now I realize

I can’t get him back

So I won’t try again

And let that be that
