Mysterious Travels: Weird Las Vegas: Pawn Stars Tour

Just a few miles away from the world of neon lights and casinos that like to steal all your money, there is a quaint little pawn shop and you may recognize from the History Channel show, Pawn Stars.

It will cost you nothing to go into the pawn shop and look around, however, do be warned, it is much smaller and normal looking than it looks on TV.  If you are going in there expecting to see Chumlee or any other of the Pawn Stars people evaluating awesome items, and expecting to see the shelves slammed full of awesome items you saw on the show, then don’t waste your time stopping.  If you would like to stop and take a look at some overpriced typical pawn shop items with a glorified souvenir shop with Chumlee, Rick, The Old Man & Corey’s faces plastered all over T shirts, coins, keychains and other overpriced “collectibles”, this is the place to stop.

Although this was a bit disappointing, where else in the world will you be able to pose with a $2,500 Chumlee bobblehead for the mother of all selfies?

If the shop itself was not enough of a glorified tourist trap for your likings, you can head on over to Rick Harrison’s Pawn Plaza right across the way from Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, where you can find overpriced hot dogs and a few other random shops.

*cough* Pass. *cough?*

Not far from the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, there are a few shops that have been featured on Pawn Stars.  While they are all awesome to visit because the owners and experts have been seen on the show, they are all typical shops.  One thing to keep in mind is that these shops were all real shops before the show, not Hollywood manufactured shops, so they are not going to be anything to write home about, but they are still nice shops to visit.

Cowtown Guitars is a quaint hot spot for the any music lover.  When you walk into the shop, it is covered in everything music, and in the back part of the store there is a vintage clothing section where you might be able to find a treasure or two of fashion trends past.  If you wish to purchase one, they do sell branded t shirts and guitar picks as well.

The Toy Shack… Where do I start with this place… Talk about overpriced!  Again, nice to be able to say I have been in a shop I saw on Pawn Stars, however with the over inflated prices and super crowded shelves, it was, to be frank, not my favorite shop to be in and made me a wee bit nervous.  The very loud music blasting overhead and the pretty ladies in skimpy Wonder Woman and Cat Woman outfits weren’t helping my ADHD overload.

I literally laughed out loud when I saw one of the Gremlins I have in my collection I paid $10 for on the shelf for $50, and I know that it’s not worth but maybe $15?  No surprise here, though, I expected it to be overpriced, just not so outrageously expensive that I could hear my wallet in my purse screaming at me and trying to run away.

Surprisingly, the Sports Cards & Memorabilia was one of the better of the Pawn Stars Shops, and the expert you see on TV was actually in his store, which was refreshing to see.  Great assortment of different sports memorabilia, rare cards, and autographs, all at decent prices.

So, would I visit the Pawn shop, as well as the rest of the Pawn Stars “tour” again, or would I pay for a tour?  No.  Honestly, we looked into an official Pawn Stars Tour, and it was way over priced, I think the lowest one we saw was like $60 a person.  Take a few hours out of your day, do some research on where the shops are in comparison to each other, and save the money of a professional tour, because if you’re looking for the badass stuff you have seen on TV, you will be sorely disappointed.  Am I glad I went and saw everything once just to say I’ve done it?  Yes.  If I was 100% not happy with my Pawn Stars Tour, I would not waste my time telling you about it.

So, moral to the story is don’t believe everything you see on TV, but visit the shops if you are a hardcore Pawn Stars fan.
